Melonie Barnaby
My name is Melonie.
I am a Family Support worker from Birmingham. I am a mom and a grandmom too. I am a community activist, whereby I advocate for our community and other communities, whether young, middle or older aged. I am an avid poet and author. I have written my own poetry book which I dedicated to my late mom.
My hobbies include creative writing, advocacy and self-professed motivational speaking. I enjoy cooking and love Jamaican food. I enjoy walking out in nature and love the sunshine. I am happiest near or at the beach in bodies of sea or river waters. This is the place where I feel most calm and peaceful. I love travelling and my favourite place to date is Jamaica. I shall be visiting Ghana, so let’s see if my favourite place may change.
I enjoy being around my children and grandchildren. We read poems together, share stories and dancing and laughter. I take the time to motivate them on their journeys and encourage them to take challenges and assist them to grow strength to face life head on. I pray for them and encourage them to pray and put the Almighty central in their lives. The future can look difficult, yet with positive thoughts, every frown can be upturned into a smile. My ethos is that we should celebrate life by being realistic and having gratitude for all our blessings throughout.
Love and peace, Melonie
