Shawn Rhoden
Hi, my name is Shawn Rhoden, and I was born and raised in Kingston. I am one of six girls from a family of eight. I attended an institution for girls where I studied and graduated with honours, at which point I pursued a career in catering. I then got the opportunity to come to the UK in 2002, at which point I experienced new cultures, languages, and a new way of life.
I married a very gentle soul in 2005.
Mr Rhoden and I went on to have a daughter together, which made me a mother of two beautiful daughters and now a grandmother to one. Despite being from a large family and the last child, I have always been very shy. Over the years, I have seen my shyness reflected in my girls, and I have seen them miss out on a lot of opportunities because of being shy. I am using my entry in this pageant to bring awareness to females lacking in self-confidence and how this can be a stumbling block in life and not a gift from God. I have seen over the years the negative effect of this trait on myself and my daughters, and I have seen those females in my group and everyday life booming with self-confidence and, oh, what a difference this makes! This opportunity will be for myself and my girls, and I hope that I will gain and be able to pass this experience on to others,
My motto and chant for this pageant will be:
Psalm 139:14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Marvellous are thy works; And that my soul knoweth right well.
Please cheer me on.
